We stayed at the Sonnenalp with our two young kids and it was wonderful from start to finish. The service was genuinely exceptional — a special thank you to Smara, who went out of her way for us more than once. The pool was a highlight for the kids, breakfast was excellent every morning, and the location couldn't be better for getting around Vail on foot. If you're traveling with little ones, I'd recommend this place without hesitation.

As a professional wedding planner and florist, we have had the pleasure of curating many weddings at the Sonnenalp. The venue itself is stunning, but it is their five-star service and professionalism that truly set them apart. In addition to the beautiful atmosphere, the food is incredible. We always enjoy working with their sales and events team, especially Kasha Dunne. She makes the pre-planning process seamless and ensures everything runs beautifully on the day of the event. This is a great property. We stayed through Amex FHR and the property exceeded all our expectations. Dinner at the restaurant and phenomenal breakfast buffet that had pretty much everything you will desire. If you do desire more, ask and they might be able to accommodate your dietary needs. And the breakfast area with all the light, it was magical. The pool area is nice outside and next to the river.

As a local Vail Wedding Photographer, the Sonnenalp truly cannot be beat. The alpine, cozy, elevated feel and the location - prime. I am so grateful to be able to step foot in the Sonnenalp Hotel whenever I am in the village - it is truly one of the most beautiful and cozy spots.

We stayed at Sonnenalp Vail as part of the Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts program, and the experience felt both elevated and intimate from the start. Visiting during the off-season turned out to be a hidden advantage-the hotel was uncrowded, which made everything feel more personal and relaxed. What stood out immediately was the warmth of the staff. Every interaction felt genuine, with team members going out of their way to be helpful, welcoming, and attentive without ever feeling overbearing. That level of hospitality really shaped the stay. The property itself has a distinctive charm. Its architecture evokes a European Bavarian style, giving it a cozy, alpine elegance that sets it apart from more typical mountain resorts. It feels transportive in a subtle, refined way. Breakfast each morning was a highlight. The buffet offered a wide variety of options, from indulgent treats like Nutella beignets to classics like eggs Benedict, all well-prepared and satisfying. It struck a nice balance between comfort and quality. Overall, it was a peaceful, well-serviced stay with thoughtful details throughout-especially enjoyable if you appreciate a quieter atmosphere and attentive hospitality.

We stayed at Sonnenalp Vail from March 25th to the 29th and had a really enjoyable experience overall. We were there for a wedding on site, and the staff working the event provided great service. All the bar staff at the wedding venue were fantastic—attentive and professional. The rooms were big and spacious with very nice bathrooms. The spa was excellent—relaxing facilities and great treatments. The outdoor pool and hot tubs were nice and a great way to relax. Room service was good, arrived quickly, and the food was tasty, though there were quite a few extra fees that added up. A few notes for a property at this price point: -The on-site King's Club bar closed at 11pm, which felt a bit early for Vail. -The oxygen bar in the spa was pretty pointless in our opinion—we wouldn't recommend it. The biggest issues were related to the room climate. There was no effective air conditioning, so on the sunny days it got uncomfortably warm and stuffy. We also wished they had screens on the windows so we could leave them open at night for fresh air without bugs. For the room rate we paid, better climate control and window screens should be standard. Despite those points, the service was warm and attentive throughout our stay, the location is perfect in Vail Village, and the overall vibe was relaxing and luxurious.

Christina Alexopoulos is the absolute best !!!! I will never use anyone else for waxing or facials because she is so thorough. Perfect job done each visit! You will not be disappointed :) HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

I wish we would have had a phenomenal stay after spending over $1500 for two nights...however we were quite disappointed. The staff were lovely and accommodating, the but rooms were subpar, and the beds were quite uncomfortable. The worst part of our stay was the construction noise that happened right outside of our room for the full two days we stayed - this was for aesthetic repairs that the hotel did not warn us about. We did follow-up with the hotel about the noise, however we were not offered any solution except "next time we will place you in a different room." There will be no next time from us, and honestly, if you're looking for a true top tier Vail hotel experience, I recommend the Four Seasons - it is a much more comfortable and luxurious stay.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay, great customer service, room was nice and we loved the heated floor in the bathroom. The location was perfect for walking around the village. Unfortunately the bed was very uncomfortable.
