Staying at Hotel Gasthof Gramshammer is one of those rare travel experiences that genuinely feels special from the moment you arrive. The location is unbeatable, literally about a one minute walk to Gondola One, making it effortless to go from breakfast to first tracks without any hassle. The rooms are exceptionally spacious, and having a deck overlooking Vail Village adds a perfect alpine atmosphere, especially in the morning or after a day on the mountain. Pepi’s restaurant, located right in the hotel, is in a league of its own. Dining in the Antlers Room feels like true five star European hospitality. The food, service, and ambiance rival restaurants I’ve experienced around the world. After skiing, the bar is lively and welcoming, with great music, a fun crowd, and a menu that makes it easy to settle in and relax. Founded in 1964, the property carries an authentic Austrian charm that makes you feel as if you’ve stepped into St. Anton while still being in the heart of Vail. The on site ski and apparel boutique is beautifully curated with high end gear, and the ski rental shop offers top tier equipment that serious skiers will appreciate. The spa facilities, including sauna, steam room, and fitness center, are perfect for unwinding after long days on the slopes. What truly sets this hotel apart is the people. The staff are consistently attentive, warm, and genuinely kind. If you have the chance to meet Sheika Gramshammer, you’ll understand why she is considered one of the defining figures of Vail. Her decades of leadership, hospitality, and community involvement, alongside her late husband Pepi, helped shape the spirit of the village. Their legacy is felt throughout the property, from the welcoming atmosphere to the deep sense of history. For anyone looking to stay somewhere that combines premier location, authentic alpine character, exceptional dining, and heartfelt hospitality, this is simply the best choice in Vail.

Beautifully located for walking to gondola. Charming place, I felt I was back in Zermatt Switzerland.

Old-school European–style ski hotel in the best sense of the term. The rooms are comfortable, there’s a great bar downstairs, and the European breakfast is straightforward but delicious. It’s not the Grand Hyatt and it doesn’t try to be. It also doesn’t come with Grand Hyatt pricing. Comfortable accommodations in an almost unbeatable Vail Village location. It’s also locally owned and operated. If supporting local businesses matters to you and you’re looking for a cozy place that gets the fundamentals right it's a comfortable stay.

Unhappy customer. We stayed at this outdated hotel over my birthday weekend this year. The hotel boasts a strict non-smoking policy however this isn’t so. We were abruptly awoken in the 1 AM hour with marijuana and cigarette smoke billowing into our room from the hotel room next to us. There is no air-conditioning at this hotel so guests need to open their sliding glass door at night for fresh cool air during the summer months. Therefore our only options were to endure the smoke or close the sliding glass door. Our night of sleep was ruined. I let the desk employee know and she said I would be contacted by a manager. This never occurred.. We will not stay here again.

if you are looking for a comfortable place to stay after skiing or snowboarding on the mountain all day, DO NOT STAY HERE!. The beds are the most horrible beds I have ever slept on in my life!! My dogs bed sleep better than their mattresses. The owner and the main front desk lady Barbara are extremely rude, they do not know the meaning of customer service. We stayed there for spring break and spent an astronomical amount of money. We rented two rooms that each had the capacity of six people. My sister came in on the second day and I was literally berated by the owner and the front desk lady because they thought we had too many people in the room, which we still did not max out at only five people in one and 3 in the other. The front desk lady literally followed me up the stairs to question me because we were taking my sister’s luggage and cooler upstairs. She treated me like a trespasser not a paying customer. The carpet was disgusting. The mattresses are horrible and the rooms are extremely hot. I would be able to set aside these things if there was any type of customer service, but these people literally seem to go out of their way to be rude to their customers. The location is good because you can ski in and out easily, but trying to get your luggage in and out with a car is very difficult.. The day of our checkout, the maids banged on our door at 8:30 in the morning for housekeeping. We were trying to get a little extra sleep before we had to check out at 11, but they seemed pretty antsy to come in and clean our room before our checkout time. The hot wings at the restaurant was probably the best thing about this place. If you want a nice mattress to rest on and customer service making you feel welcome I would try a different lodge.

I'm a musician who's been playing here all summer covering for another musician Monday's, Weds, Thursdays, and and Fridays. They had a schedule change and we re-agreed to dates through April. She's not only the (owners daughter) and manager of music but probably one of the rudest and unstable human beings I've met. After being berated by her yesterday while unpacking to leave bc she double booked, I also learned that she basically fired me due to her mistake. I'm a father, musician for a living, and i Ive turned down others shows due to booking with Pepis. Do NOT support this family and this business. After this happening to me, i've spoken to other local musicians and this seems to be normal operating for this business. Do not support this business, they DONT support locals. I'm adding screen shots or our messages to show CONFIRMATION and lack of taking responsibility for your actions. They literally sent me to the hostest of the restursnt when I asked to speak to the owner and basically sent me to their general email to have a conversation regarding this mistake. The bar manager is a perfect representation of th owner. He's mindless and did nothing to stand up for me even after seeing text confirming dates.

Horrible front desk staff, super rude and condescending when talking to a client, the place is dirty and overpriced. Avoid this place. The customer service is nonexistent.

This hotel is in a great location. Its old school German motif is very charming. There is a bar with live music which was perfect for apres ski beer and pretzel. We had a room right above the bar, but the music was done by 9 pm, so no problem for us. One Saturday night there was a loud party nearby which kept us up until 2am, which I guess is the price we pay for the cental location. We had the hot tub to ourselves, and there was a sauna, too. The room was clean. The front desk was very responsive when the tv didn't work.

As my 1st X visiting Vail this is the ideal hotel to stay in. Friendly, efficient customer service and very clean rooms. It has a classic, Austrian theme to it in which made me feel as i was in episode of Rick Steve's European travels. So many tourists on this Father's day as to be expected
