The Ritz-Carlton Residences at Vail has historically been a favorite destination for long-time guests, but recent reviews indicate a decline in service and maintenance standards. Concerns include indifferent staff, malfunctioning amenities, operational issues like ski valet failures, and general upkeep problems. While some guests still appreciate the location and suite size, the overall experience is perceived as inconsistent with the property’s premium price point.
We have been staying at the The Ritz-Carlton Club, Vail for over eight years, and historically it has been one of our family’s favorite winter destinations. Unfortunately, our recent four night stay in February 2026 was extremely disappointing and reflected a noticeable decline in both service and overall maintenance. In the past, the level of hospitality and attention to detail justified the premium price point. During this stay, however, we experienced ongoing issues that felt inconsistent with the Ritz Carlton standard. The attitude at the front desk was noticeably indifferent and lacked the warmth and professionalism we have come to expect. Several amenities were either not functioning or poorly maintained. Multiple pieces of equipment in the gym were not working. The steam room was out of service. One of the hot tubs had jets that did not work. Both hot tubs were in serious need of cleaning, and at one point there was a diaper left on the pool deck, something we would never expect at a property of this caliber. Operationally, there were also frustrating service breakdowns. At checkout, the ski valet failed to return our skis to the hotel, resulting in over an hour delay. Valet also brought up incorrect vehicles on multiple occasions. Additionally, basic in room amenities we previously relied on, such as humidifiers, were unavailable. For a property at this price point, these issues are simply unacceptable. What was once an exceptional experience now feels inconsistent and poorly maintained. We sincerely hope leadership takes steps to restore the service standards and upkeep that once made this property stand out. As long time guests, this decline has been particularly disappointing
Overall my stay was really good and I had a great time. But my experience with a member of the staff Aleksandra Nagel was very disappointing. During our interaction, I was treated in a condescending manner, as if I were incapable of understanding basic information, and no real help or solution was offered. For a hotel of the Ritz’s level and reputation, this type of attitude is unacceptable. Guests expect professionalism, respect, and a genuine willingness to assist, not behavior that makes them feel uncomfortable or belittled. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and used to reinforce staff training, so that future guest experiences truly reflect the high standards associated with the Ritz name.
We would stay here again. Very nicely appointed 2 bedroom condo with hot-tub and pool and bar in Lions-head. Restaurant closed for the season mid way through our October week here and we did miss having it as our only complaint. Other restaurants are not that close. Convenient hotel shuttle to main Vail village as well as Vail shuttle, so no need for a car on the mountain. Definitely more luxurious than most of the Westin timeshares we have been to. We plan to return. No spa but we enjoyed going to The Four Seasons nearby for treatments and spa circuit.
If you get a room facing the Hwy, keep your windows closed. It can be very loud with Hwy noise. No fans in the bedrooms, and it got a little stuffy at night sometimes. The bar and restaurant were closed so that was a huge disappointment. I get it, it's slow season but all the other hotels I went to in the area had their bats and restaurant open. Perhaps because this location is a MVC property and they are trying to save money, but if it was really that slow why did I get a unit not facing the Hwy? Other than that the rooms were nice and clean.
We reserved a 3 bedroom suite/condo for the week for my family of 5. You may be wondering how my overall score is a 2 when I gave everything else 4s and 5s. Here's the tale of a great vacation with 2 horrible mornings. It all started out when they put us on the first floor facing the wall of the next hotel and right over the drive down to the garage, could overlook that as you could look at an angle from the patio and see some trees and a bit of mountain between the buildings, we could live with it as we were in an amazing location... but when you are startled awake at 7am and again the next morning at 8am while on your vacation by truck mounted power washing equipment directly below your window, that is unacceptable. I confirmed this was a Ritz contractor, so it wasn't like it was out of their control. Also, zero notice, no note, call, nothing saying "we will be waking you up from your slumber on your holiday well before most people on vacation get up". The gentleman who checked us in could have cared less that he put us on the 1st floor, even though I booked 8+ months in advance. This was our 3rd stay here, both others were perfect, but this one was definitely not. The facilities themselves were great, and the men who work the valet, they are amazing, polite, helpful, all the things you expect from a Ritz Carlton and then some. The location is also wonderful, easy walk to Lionhead and Vail village, plenty of places to eat and shop. Short drive to Frisco, Avon, Breckenridge, and other areas for all kinds of great shopping and dining. Also, you can hike on mountains, ride gravity coasters, all sorts of entertaining ways to kill a day. We love staying here, but this experience, especially for what you spend to stay at a Ritz Carlton residence, it just shouldn't happen. I will point out that someone from the hotel contacted me after the fact and credited me back 1 nights stay, and I appreciate the gesture, but it was clear she just wanted to check a box and placate me and that really I'm just one guest and they needed to get their power washing done early in the morning vs starting at 10 or something (heavy sarcasm implied). If they'd have listened to me and the other guest I met at the front desk who was complaining, and NOT started at 8am the next day, well, this review would read differently. However, when your guests have an issue, and you do it again the very next morning, again with no warning, that speaks volumes to the fact you really aren't that concerned about the guest experience, regardless of what the Ritz Carlton advertising wants you to believe. Will I consider staying here again, probably, as my family loves the location and the suites are amazing! My wife and I already decided against it for 2026 though, we'll try Tahoe instead, and not a Ritz this time.

The Ritz-Carlton, Vail made our wedding dreams come true. From exceptional customer service to the unforgettable experience provided to our entire wedding party, everything was truly top-notch. If you're deciding where to block rooms for your wedding, look no further—this is the place. They exceeded every expectation!
Overall, great trip! Room was a bit dated but service was excellent for the most part... there were a few issues with the night time bar manager, a woman who seemed to not be very accommodating and lacking in pleasantries... I wish we had a better view for the money we spent... bar closing at 9 PM WAS disappointing for a resort.
We went here off season and love the place. Very clean and a great room. Very nice rooms. Indulged in the 4pm Cookie's and 5pm toast. Played a nice game of pool. Hit the hot tub a cpl times and very clean. The gym is great plenty of equipment to use. We loved the steam room in the men's lounge area. Only complaint the kids have Is they need more apps on the TV. Example HBO, Apple etc. Smarter tv. They hit Walmart and picked up a Roku.l so we all good. The front desk and valet staff are great. They hit the room twice a day for refresh. Over all we loved it.
The Ritz was a great week-long experience for me and my family. As a beginner skier, being able to recover everyday after a long day on the slopes was just what I needed. Staff were friendly and always accommodating. Nothing felt slow and all amenities were always ready for use. From concierge, valets, to the ski storage staff - ski boots always ready for use every morning. Also LOVED the bottles of lotion and SPF50 near every exit/entrance; saved me a sunburn! The rooms were nice and large, but also the two bedrooms were private enough to have our own spaces. Kitchen and living spaces were beautiful and open-concept so when we were together, we WERE together. Cleaning staff made sure everything was spotless everyday and always supplied us with extra towels and bathrobes after daily use of the hot-tub. Pictured is the food… unfortunately did not take pictures of the actual hotel. The food was great (especially the pretzel) and the lobby was always bustling with noise and people. Free shots every afternoon, free cookies at 5PM, and guest musicians in the lobby at night. The Ritz was an amazing experience I could never forget!
